Nominator's project description

Professor Beisert is a leading researcher in mathematical physics. He works on fundamental questions in quantum field theory, which provides the framework for elementary particle physics. In an idealised model for the strong nuclear interactions he has uncovered an infinite dimensional symmetry that enabled him to solve this model in parts exactly. In Germany, he aims at enhancing these symmetries to less idealised models and to find a precise formulation of the underlying mathematical structures.
